Day 8: Tuesday 9th August 2016

Today was Rabbi's Day! A whole host of Rabbonim and youth leaders from our communities came to join all the camps in the peace village.

The day ended with a delicious dinner and a fun take on the game 'Operation!' The participants had a ‘patient’ who they had to try and keep alive by partaking in a host of different games, including blowing up as many balloons as they can, and trying a variety of cold foods!  Luckily everyone managed to keep their ‘patient’ alive and the kids went to bed having learnt the importance of responsibility and looking after one-another.  It was an important lesson learnt and really helped to strengthen the bond between the participants and also their madrichim.

Day 7: Monday 8th August 2016

Monday is Colour War!  One of the highlights of camp!  They were split into teams and got into the competitive spirit with facepaint, posters, chants and coloured clothing.

A load of activities followed as they tried to win as many points for their teams as possible and help secure victory for their respective colour!

Lunch was filled with the chants of the teams and the ruach was unbelievable.  It was safe to say that after lunch everyone’s ears were ringing!  Everyone then completed a fun activity based on pass the parcel (but with a few twists!) and a fantastic wide game that got everyone running around trying to score extra points for their colour.

It was a fantastic experience and wonderful chance to see how much everyone had bonded and just how well they worked together with each other.  Over the past week everyone really has gelled, proving just what a wonderful time they have had together.

We're about to end with a truly Olympic inspired Closing Ceremony where it will be revealed, after some close competition, who has won Colour War!  Congratulations to all the teams for a hard-fought battle!

Day 6: Sunday 7th August 2016

Today we departed early for our second trip of camp, a fantastic theme park!  Everyone had a great deal of fun being spun around on rides and whizzing around on rollercoasters.

All the participants and their madrichim loved to spend time in the theme park, with a lot of kids winning a host of different prizes at the arcade games and stalls!  It’s fair to say camp had a number of cuddly arrivals once the day had ended!

Now that the participants were well and truly exhausted, we headed back to camp to refuel ourselves with dinner.  This we're following with a chilled movie night with everyone cosy in pyjamas and with lots of popcorn.

Day 5: Shabbat 7th August

On Saturday we had a wonderful Shabbat service and explanatory session that helped to expand our knowledge and answer any questions we may have about Judaism, however weird and wonderful.  After some time chilling in the Shabbat sun, we finished off the evening with a fun game of giant articulate all about our camp and ended Shabbat with a beautiful Havdalah (end of Shabbat) service where the whole camp site sung and danced together to celebrate the beauty of the day.  It was a truly magical experience filling a Belgium camp-site with the sound of Jewish music and reminded everyone of just how special Shabbat and Judaism are.

Day 4: Friday 5th August 2016

The day began with an extremely fun water fight!  It was a great chance to cool off from the heat and throw a few water balloons at each other and their madrichim.  There was not a dry person in sight, as everyone got well and truly drenched.

After a quick break to dry off and change of clothes, we began our preparations for the most exciting part of camp, Shabbat!  We began by making posters and decorating the entire campsite with bright colours and beautiful pictures. This really helped to get everyone in the mood for a fantastic 25hrs!

Now it is the time to smarten ourselves up and really get ready to welcome in this special day.  Everyone will look incredibly smart in their Shabbat clothes busily taking photos of each other to share once camp ends!  Shabbat will start with a wonderful Kabbalat Shabbat, led by our amazing Rabbonim and then for an incredible dinner of chicken soup and roast chicken! We look forward to ending the night with a magical oneg!

“Fun to work in the team and the slip and slide was amazing! We didn't even mind how wet and mucky we got! And we knew how much work the madrichim put into it and we really had a great time!” - Leah Ezekiel

Day 3: Thursday 4th August 2016

Today everyone got into the Olympic mood for a fun morning of sporting activities.  We started off the day split into four different countries and completed a host of challenges to win points for our team, and hopefully got the chance to win a coveted Tribe Olympic medal.  It may not have been Rio, but the sun was shining and the festive mood was felt all round the campsite.

After another thought-provoking challenge session, we continued our Olympic theme with a mini sports day, filled with races, obstacle courses and a lot of chanting and cheering.  The participants ran round the field more times than Mo Farah could count, easily proving that they were worthy of a sport at the games in Rio – even if it was a long flight away!

We ended the night around a bonfire complete with hot chocolate and marshmallows and, of course, an amazing atmosphere made by all the chanichim.

"Olympic day was the best! It was so much fun running around and competing in our countries! We didn't win but it didn't stop us having a lot of fun!" - Max Bergman

"It was so fun! I loved it! Especially the carnival themed dinner with the beach balls!" - Gabriella Dee

Day 2: Wednesday 3rd August 2016

It was a nice early start today as we headed to Eco Park - a fun outdoor adventure, high ropes course! After a short coach ride the participants climbed off the bus and into safety harnesses before scaling the trees of Belgium!

Everyone had a lot of fun swinging from branch to branch and even zip-lining across a giant lake! The initial fears some of the participants had quickly faded as they all climbed up and made their way from course to course!

Once everyone had climbed every tree in sight they boarded the coach and all fell asleep, exhausted after a hard day's climbing!

A fun 'pub quiz' is going to follow dinner, led by Aimee, to really got the kids into the competitive spirit as they answer a whole host of questions and challenges!

We look forward to catching up with you all soon!!

Day 1: 2nd August 2016

Waking up nice and early, the participants were ready to start their first full day of camp. After a yummy breakfast and inspiring Shacharit (morning prayers), they enjoyed a fun activity testing their world knowledge.

This was followed by the first challenge session were the participants started to learn about the importance of Shabbat and why it falls on a Saturday of all days!

A fun version of the classic game 50:50 followed before our own version of Ready Steady Cook! Everyone had a lot of fun making some weird and wonderful creations!

The evening ended on a high with a fantastic fair ground in the field! The participants got to play coconut shy, sponge a madrich, and even played 'hook a duck' in our very own Tribe paddling pool!  It was a lot of fun and everyone had a blast as the leaders took them into the world of fun fairs!

"It was really fun and a great start to camp." - Zoe Caplan

"I really enjoyed 50:50! Watching our madrichim get covered in flour and water was so funny!"Sam Santhouse

"50:50 was so much fun but my favourite activity was definitely Get Set Cook, where we got to build our own restaurant! It was nice to end the day watching Tangled as well!" Lottie Cannon
